What is Reiki?
Reiki is a very simple method of hands-on healing, or with hands hovering above
the body, that works with your own energy system in a synergistic way. The
beautiful Reiki energy flows through the practitioner to the client. It can support
any part of your being and bring balance to your whole system.
In practice, many clients use Reiki for relaxation and centering. Clients also use
Reiki as a way to help bring healing to the emotions or to past traumas. And, of
course, Reiki can be used for physical healing of ailments, pain and wounds, as
well as during medical procedures. What’s more, Reiki can also be instrumental
in opening a person’s heart to their innate spirituality, their inner life!
Reiki originally came from Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan, who received it as a spiritual gift during a time of fasting on Mount Kurama in Kyoto in 1922.
Dr. Usui traveled extensively and educated many in the art of Reiki. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which may be translated as “Spiritual” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Nowadays, people from all walks of life, religious affiliations and beliefs practice Reiki!
I received a 30 minute distance Reiki session from Laurie and became very calm and
relaxed afterwards. My neck tightness was completely gone! And the butterflies I
had in my stomach were also gone. That night I had a great night’s sleep. I’m looking forward to my next session! I was very surprised and impressed that

Pets and Animals love Reiki!
Reiki has become very popular to use with pets and animals, with good reason! I have found that Reiki can truly help your pets feel calm and relaxed and may assist with their recovery process if they are being treated for a medical issue, working as effectively as in a human being. Reiki can also be used to treat behavioral issues, as proactive wellness care, and more. I have found that animals respond very well to Reiki as they have an innate understanding of
energy and find it very soothing.
What to Expect at your Reiki Session
When you arrive, please allow for approximately 10-15 minutes to discuss the
Reiki process, to address any questions you may have, and to review your
concerns and issues. You may want to set an intention for the session at this
time. You will stay fully clothed. Please dress comfortably. You will be asked to remove your shoes. You will be placed in a comfortable position, face up, on a massage table. A pillow will be placed under your head, if desired. A pillow will also be placed under your knees, if requested.
Reiki will be delivered with my hands held slightly above your body and/or via
gentle touch on your body. (Touch can be avoided if you prefer. Bikini areas are
never touched.) I will change my hand positions as needed.
After the Reiki session, you may want to allow yourself 5-10 minutes to have
some water, write in your journal, if you brought one, and get ready to drive
again. We can discuss anything you would like after the session.
I look forward to working with you!
